Answering the clamor of the Muslim residents of Maharlika Village to get professional training in tennis, CMM tied up with Milo Summer Sports Program by sponsoring the free tutorials that became available to more than 60 individuals: men, women and children.

Coach Jovy Mamawal, Milo Tennis Program Head, immediately agreed to the proposal after making an ocular inspection of the Tennis Court in Maharlika Village.  He emphasized that, “. . .one of the aims of the Milo Sports Program is to encourage everyone to be involved in sports and physical fitness regardless of religion, creed and status in life.

With the concurrence of the Maharlika Tennis Club headed by Atty. Faisal Hussein, the tutorials started under the tutelage of Professional Tennis Trainors, Coach Virgilio “Ver” Ricamora and Coach Frank.  CMM and Milo pooled their resources to  provide tennis rackets and balls for the training.

Men, women (in their hijab) and children participants, disregarded the searing heat of the summer sun as they assume ‘ready position,’ before smashing the ball with the use of the ‘forehand’ or the ‘backhand’ to ultimately toss the ball over the net using the proper techniques.

According to CMM President Comm. Taha Basman, “We are looking forward to more sports programs especially for the youth because we want them to lead healthy lifestyles and to be active in worthwhile physical activities.”  He further stressed that other sports programs such as marathon and chess will also be available this summer.
