US-based Muslim Donates to CMM Print E-mail

The rice problem in the Philippines is now known world-wide. A call from our Columnist, Ms. Roslaini Iljas Rasuman, who is now residing in Jakarta, Indonesia really surprised the Officers of the Center for Moderate Muslims (CMM).

According to Ms. Rasuman, a former colleague at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Mr. Shamsad Ali Khan, a Pakistani now residing in America, wanted to donate some amount for the purchase of rice to be distributed to the poor Muslim families being served by CMM. A total of 300 families will now receive packs of food items, including rice, as beneficiaries of the donation from our American-based Muslim brother

CMM Executive Director Mrs. Nelia Basman and the staff have now prepared the packages and the venue, which is the new CMM Headquarters in Taguig City, for the distribution program. Mr. Khan also committed to donate to the CMM-Hamdani Day Care Center in the coming months as his way of helping the Filipino Muslim indigents who put importance to the education of their children. Comm. Taha M. Basman, CMM President, in a telephone call, thanked Mr. Khan for the donation.

CMM was informed by Ms. Rasuman that during the stint of Mr. Khan in the Philippines as ADB Officer, he was always helping Muslim Filipinos all over the country. The latest gesture of Mr. Khan is therefore not surprising. May Allah (swt) bless Mr. Khan and all those helping our indigent constituents.
