After a rigid screening of the candidates for the 3rd Ten Outstading Muslim Youth (TOMY) Awards, the ten (10) winners were finally feted at the Eurotel, Pedro Gil St., Ermita, Manila on March 15, 2008. The occasion was graced by successful Muslim businessman, Gov. Omar Al-Thani (Jose Antonio) Leviste, as Guest Speaker. An inspirational message was also delivered by the indefatigable Dean of the University of the Philippines Institute of Islamic Studies, Dr. Mashur Bin Ghalib Jundam. Gov.Leviste,
who performed the hajj twice, in 2003 and last year, highlighted the importance of placing a high premium on vigor, initiative, creativity and the Islamic values of productivity for the Muslim Youth to continue the tradition of Excellence that Muslim leaders during the time of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) exemplified.
During the occasion, attended by more than 100 Muslim student leaders coming from different topnotch Universities in Metro Manila, the Awardees were given medals, Plaques of Recognition, and cash. They were also asked to deliver their acceptance speeches which boosted the morale and desire of the Youth Leaders to aspire for the TOMY Awards next year.

Comm. Taha Basman, in his Welcome Address, encouraged the TOMY Awardees and the Youth Leaders to become good examples of the Muslim Youth in living productively and espouse tolerance, moderation, and peaceful co-existence in the global community. The occasion was also attended by the Ulama and other distinguished Muslim leaders in Metro Manila.
