The CMM-Hamdani Day Care Center and the Madrasah-OB Montessori Pagsasarili Learning Center held their Joint Graduation and Closing Ceremonies last March 25, 2007 at the Maharlika Elementary School (MES) compound.  There were 108 graduates who received their certificates and bagful of school supplies from the top local officials of Taguig City and other Diplomats supportive of the CMM programs.

The Day Care and Madrasah-Montessori centers are projects of the CMM and the Mindanao Research Institute (MRI) in cooperation with the Hamdani Iljas Rasuman Foundation and the OB Montessori Child and Community Foundation, Inc.  The program addresses the need of the Muslim community to avail of a free preparatory education which includes the Madrasah; and an affordable world-class education using the Montessori method in teaching.  Aside from providing a venue for nurturing the children towards peace and unity, it also endeavors to elicit community participation in the educational welfare of the Muslim children in Maharlika Village, Taguig City.

Inspirational messages were delivered by special guests Mr. Desmond Ng, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Singapore Embassy and Mr. Chakorn Suchiva, Minister of the Royal Thai Embassy.  Ms. Asela Arago from the Focolare (interfaith group) Movement also extended a message of support to the students.

Officials of the Local Government of Taguig headed by Mayor Sigfrido Tinga were present to provide moral support to the graduates and the community.  Mayor Tinga, in his keynote speech, encouraged the children to be models of peace and tolerance.  He likewise rallied the whole community to cooperate in the development efforts of the City Government.  Mayor Tinga also distributed backpacks (bags) to the graduates for their use next school year.  The CMM, in turn, gave school supplies to the lucky students, in addition to the free snacks served to all the guests and parents who graced the occasion.  Other VIPs included Vice Mayor George Elias, Councilors Marisse Balina and AP Bartolome.

The occasion also served as a kick-off event for the CMM Summer Program for the year 2007.  The free programs offered are: Computer Literacy, Art Classes, Children’s and Adult’s Madrasah, Livelihood Training for Men and Women and Sports Program, including Milo Tennis Clinic, Chess, Scrabble, and Marathon for all ages, especially the youth.  For good luck, Ambassador Asha Dvitiyananda (Thailand) sent an initial cash donation of P10,000 to the CMM for its educational Programs addressing the Muslim children’s needs.
