To herald the coming of the Holy Month of Ramadhan, the participants of the: TMB-Hamdani Day Care Center; Madrasah-Montessori Learning Center; CMM Computer Literacy Program and other needy Muslims joined a parade which culminated on gift-giving.

&nbspThe Center for Moderate Muslims (CMM), in cooperation with the Taha M. Basman Memorial Islamic Foundation (TMBMIF), Hamdani Foundation , the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia and the National Secretariat for Social Action (CBCP/NASSA) organized a pre-ramadhan gift-giving program at the CMM Headquarters in Maharlika Village, Taguig City last August 21, 2009.

After the short parade, all the students, together with their parents and other beneficiaries of TMBMIF and CMM, gathered at the CMM Headquarters to receive their grocery items. In order to assure the proper organization of the ceremony, 'gift coupons' were distributed to target recipients a day before the said program. The distribution went on smoothly because of the system employed by the organizers.

“During this Holy Month, Muslim families around the world break their fast (iftar) with a feast. Unfortunately, many don’t have the means to even have a decent meal to take. This activity assured each recipient family of the iftar that they can share during the first day of Ramashan,” according to the organizers of the activity

“Inshaallah, for Eid-ul-Fitr, we have collected donations from generous individuals who continue to trust CMM, hence grocery bags will again be distributed to the Muslim community in Taguig and in Marawi City,” said the CMM officers.

Food for Thought

“…..The gap set up between the Muslims (Islam) and the rest of the world can be removed only by an open-minded approach to the Qur’an, Islam, and the Muslim situation. For a number of historical reasons, contact between the West and the Islamic World is increasing. The relationship must grow on a foundation of knowledge and objective understanding. In this period, bias and ignorance deserve to be seen more as a challenge to be overcome than obstacles to be helplessly lamented!...”
