Commissioner Basman, who was also the President of the Center for Moderate Muslims- Philippines (CMM-Phils.), had consistently supported the activities organized by the Islamic Institute. He also co-sponsored some of their seminar workshops and conferences through the CMM. His in-depth participation in helping the Ummah can be reflected through the regular activities he organized in Muslim communities not only in Maharlika Village (Taguig), Culiat (Quezon City) and Quiapo (Manila), but also in Zamboanga City, Marawi City, Davao City, Sulu, Basilan, Tawi-tawi and Cebu. A few of these projects include Imam Training Program (ITP), Academic and Madrasah Scholarships, Computer Literacy Program (CLP), Daycare Center, Sunday Women Group (Islamic seminars for women every Sunday), Radio Programs, Cable TV Shows and other da’wah-related activities. Despite his demise, CMM vowed to preserve Comm. Basman’s legacy of serving the Muslim brothers and sisters by continuing the abovementioned activities that he started. |
